Of course we knew this was going to happen. Of course we did.
"This isn't the kind of exposure we want or need. It's as though it's 1937 and I'm a bandleader named Freddie Hitler."
- Scott Ian of the band Anthrax, October 2001
We have apparently entered a time where people think they can get elected president of the US by being the most hyperbolic about how bad things are. Last night there was a debate where the two leading candidates for the office tripped over each other trying to be the one using the scariest adjectives to describe the economy. In such times, it's only natural that people should seek out clarity from the most trusted of sources - namely us, a two-piece rock band that can't get through a show without some tech problem threatening to derail the whole sheband.
Yes we saw this whole collapse coming from a mile away and yes we named our band for the headlines of 2009. Go back and listen to the lyrics because it's all there, people. Take comfort in the fact that, as you're eating your pets and burning worthless US currency to heat your cave in the very near future, WE TOLD YOU SO.
Ben Bernanke can give us a call if he wants to make an offer for our domain name. The rest of you who have ignored our prophetic warnings are dead to us.
